Guindani Trail

Guindani Trail

In 2017 when we visited Kartchner Caverns we walked the Guindani Trail and loved it. The trailhead for it is just outside the state park, but the trail is on National Forest Service land. Parking for the trail is just past the campground near the volunteer “village.”

We took the trail in a counter-clockwise direction.. doing this we walked up canyon with 7 or 8 water crossings. There was water, but not enough to wet our feet. Lots of strategically placed rocks. After a gentle upward walk, we encountered a steeper, more strenuous climb to a saddle point with an amazing view. After a rest at the saddle point we began our downward journey. Couuntinuously downward with switchbacks until we reached the parking area. A good 4.5 hour walk covering 4.1 miles.

Later we had a steak, potato, onion, and asparagus dinner at our new campsite (#7).
