Goodland KS to Paxico KS

Goodland KS to Paxico KS

Wow Kansas is a long state.  We drove all day without seeing much of note – just green alfalfa fields,  fields not yet planted,  grain elevators, and isolated farmhouses surrounded by green windbreaks.

There was one strange part of 1-70.  The fairly new concrete road was a washboard, just like a gravel road that needed grading.  It was a true relief when the road finally changed.

As noted before we discovered that many of the rest areas along I-70 have RV dumps and overnight camping loops.  David noted that the rest stop just after Paxico had a large such loop between the east- and westbound lanes.  We spent the night there in a pulloff surrounded by trees.  The sites have picnic tables and trash cans, but most are not very level. Lots of road noise.
