Belize to Dallas
Today was a travel day. We had planned to leave the rental by 9:00 so we could stop for a hike in a national park (Janet and David) and visit the Belize Zoo (Andrew and family). Of course, we didn’t get off as early as planned, as Andrew had a lot of organizing to do before his Dallas to San Francisco to Australia trip.
As it turned out, we got in our hike at Guanacaste National Park and the kids saw the zoo, but lunch ended up being sandwiches from a bakery eaten while we waited for our cars to be checked in at Crystal Auto Rentals. By the way, we were very happy with our rentals from this Belizean company. The cars were clean and in great running shape — a feat given the potholes and mud of the roads.
We checked in with American in an unairconditioned terminal. Fly United — they have an airconditioned terminal. Our flight left on time and arrived in DFW early. Our trip through immigration and customs was quick and painless. Andrew and family foud a shuttle to their overnight hotel. We found our shuttle to the Park and Fly and were soon on the way to a campground in Lewisville — North of DFW. Our trip was a bit difficult because of the construction along I-35, but we settled in before they closed the gates.
