Tyson Wash LTVA

Tyson Wash LTVA

Tyson Wash LTVA is one of the camping areas in the desert near Quartzsite, AZ.  We selected it because it is near Quartzsite, a place David was interested in seeing, and it has good NBC TV reception, the Super Bowl, obviously.  We found a site at the south end of the area with a view of the desert and mountains with TV antennas.  Lovely.

Before the Super Bowl we took a walk into the desert to a mountain about 1/2 mile away.  This area was much easier to walk in than that near Palm Canyon.  The wash has no deep gullies, just sandy ups and downs.  There are many (lots) of ATV trails through it which have compacted the sand which makes it easier to walk on.  We climbed the mountain on an ATV trail and enjoyed the view from the top.  Features of interest in the desert were three 6–foot deep holes which appeared to be sampling holes — probably dug in the last ten years.  Other than that all we saw were palo verde, mesquite, a few cacti, and lots of ATVs.  This is clearly a favorite place to go for a Sunday ride in the desert.

We returned to the van in time for the game.  It was a great game, but like everyone else who watched it, I am asking, “Why would you pass on second and goal with 40 seconds left?”
