Upper Peninsula of Michigan
We drove more today than I had planned (nearly 300 miles), but we ended up in a spectacular place — Soldier Lake NF Campground.
The ride here paralleled Lake Superior for a good way. We enjoyed the views and the cool breeze after so many days of sweltering heat.
Solder Lake NF Campground hugs the edge of the lake. Our site, #11, is nestled among towering pines right on the shore. Since it is the end of the weekend, less then half the sites are occupied so we have a great deal of privacy.
Campground provides fire rings and picnic tables at each site, pit toilets, and firewood for sale from the host. We enjoyed a dinner of steak, squash with onions, salad, and potatoes with onions and cheese. David cooked the squash and steak over the fire.
