Charlottetown to PEI NP

Charlottetown to PEI NP

We stayed in Charlottetown overnight. In the morning Janet got her hair cut and shopped at a fish market for lobster, mussels, and haddock. David walked to Home Depot to find a heavy duty extension cord he could add to the connector we had been able to buy yesterday in New Brunswick.

We then headed to the national park. It’s just a short drive from Charlottetown. We passed through beautiful farm fields. Lots of potatoes, but also corn, soybeans, a grain, and a huge field of a plant I cannot identify.

We checked into our campground, but were not able to go to the site until 2:00 so we went for a walk on the beach. Lovely beach with dark, red brown sand and grass covered dunes. It is amazing that this shoreline has been preserved as a national park for all to use. It’s so wild and wonderful.

After the beach we drove along the Gulf Coast Highway; enjoyed watching some very ominous clouds moving in across the Cove from the Covehead lighthouse.

When we finally accessed our site, we found it was on a hill. Fortunately, once we backed in we found a fairly level space at the top. Not the best site, but surrounded by trees. I used the laundry — much needed — then we had an appetizer of lobster followed by a dinner of mussels, beans, and cucumbers with onions. All good.
