San Diego Area

Amanda was finished with practice about noon, so we picked her up at her dorm and headed to a Mexican restaurant for lunch.  From there we headed to the beach south of San Diego.  Amanda has been at the Olympic Training Center for two weeks, but she has had little opportunity (or transportation) to get out to see the area.

The Silver Strand State Beach on a spit of land between the ocean and San Diego Bay was a beautiful place to walk and talk.  The perfect temperature — a hot sun with a cooling breeze.  There was parasailing and mini-surfing.  Lovely.

We returned to our campsite at Sweetwater Summit County Park to grill a dinner and sit and talk.  Amanda spent the night with us.  We had purchased a Thermarest and Amanda had brought the pillows and blankets from her dorm, so we had a bed on the floor.  Worked very well.
