AZ to NM

We left Catalina State Park in Arizona today and headed east to New Mexico. This is the beginning of our drive east and north heading towards Indiana.

There is not much to comment upon as most of the drive is through flat desert with mountains in the distance. But we did see fields of yellow flowers in the desert which also in some places extended into the foothills. There is one rock formation with a rest area associated with it that is worth looking at.

Our destination was a New Mexico State Park — City of Rocks. The City of Rocks is basically a pile of granite boulders in the middle of the desert. The campground is large — about 50 sites. A few which are reservable have electric but most are primitive. Some are nestled in among the rocks, but others are on the perimeter and have a good view. The campground has water, picnic tables, and fire rings, but no dump. The only problem with the sites is that most are not very level, although the tent pads are. We had good ATT data and phone and were able to get the four major network TV signals from Silver City. The latter is important only since we would like to see Purdue play on Saturday, assuming they beat Michigan on Friday which we will listen to on SiriusXM Radio.
