Crane Prairie Reservoir

After breakfast we drove to Lava Lake to see the shoreline, then drove to the Lucky Lake trailhead. We enjoyed an easy, but warm, hike to the lake. The views of Mt Bachelor and the Sisters were stunning. While we enjoyed a rest at lakeside, a breeze came up, so our walk down was much cooler and more comfortable.

From Lucky Lake we returned to the camping site we had located on Crane Prairie reservoir. It was still available (after all it was Tuesday) and we set up camp. We enjoyed watching the ducks and geese on the water until Amanda arrived with Louie for dinner.

After a dinner of various leftovers, we walked along the lake to look at all the other camping sites. We found one that was even nicer than our first, so we planned to move there in the morning. It was nicer as the shore was less marshy which made it a better site for Louie’s water sports.

Louie loves to swim out after a stick thrown into the water. He will return with it and beg to have it thrown again. He never seems to tire of the activity.
