Kartchner Caverns State Park
We decided to stop at Kartchner Caverns State Park on our way north and west. It was a convenient place and we were interested in seeing these caverns that were opened in 1999.
We went on the Rotunda/Throne Room tour and enjoyed it all. The work that has been done to make these caves open to the public is rather amazing. The work they have done to protect the caves while opening them for the public is admirable. If you should take the tour, make sure you spend time in the interpretive center. Excellent.
The tour did not allow cameras, phones, or binoculars. Thus no photos below.
Besides the caves, this park has many hikes up into the surrounding mountains. It is certainly a place to which we would like to return. From here we are headed to El Paso where we can do some shopping, laundry, and watch the Super Bowl. Go Broncos.
