Trail 396 – Prescott NF
After sending the drone up for a quick look around, we headed out on Trail 396 to the Lower Goldwater Lake. The trail is gorgeous – firm sand and clay mix with moderate ups and downs. Along the way we encountered One forest pool and small waterfall, two deer, and four other hikers.
We lunched on a log overlooking the lake, then took a cut through to the School House Gulch Road – a dirt road which took a more direct route back to the van. The road is pleasant, but tends to be steeper while the trail follows the contours of the land. Both took us through beautiful forests of pine, oak, and even a few madrone with open areas with beautiful beige grasses.
