Poverty Point State Park
We spent the day driving along I-20 through Mississippi and into Louisiana. It’s a lovely ride through lots of pine forest.
We stopped at a great Louisiana State Park at the Poverty Point State Reservoir. Lots of coots, Harlequin Ducks, and heron on the reservoir. We took a walk through the forest marked bear and alligator habitat. All we saw were oaks, cypress, pine, and palmetto, but a pleasant walk if not eventful.
We highly recommend this park, especially if you want relatively primitive camping, although full hook-ups are available.
