Nora and Jeremie’s Wedding

Nora and Jeremie’s Wedding

Nora, David’s niece, has been trying to celebrate her marriage since August of 2020.  After being twice postponed, the wedding was finally held on the family island near Kingston Ontario on August 13, 2022.

David and I drove up in Savanna, stopping in Toronto to pick up Amanda at a hotel near the airport.  We camped in the woods behind shore property owned by family friends.  Andrew and. Steven drove up in Vanessa and camped next, to us.  Amanda slept in a tent.

The night before the wedding we joined David’s nieces and family, brother-in-law, and sister  with her son, daughter-in-law, and gran son for a large dinner at the shore home of the Pennock family.  It was a pleasure to be together with everyone. It was so kind of the Pennock’s to make their home available to us.

The wedding was a lovely event held on the island with the logistics of transporting 80 guests skillfully handled by family and friends.  Nora had designed and sewn her own gown.  Jeremiah had fashioned a wedding arch and made seats for the wedding guests.  The reception was held off-island at Furnace Falls Farm  where locally sourced food was served followed by wedding pies created by Nora’s mother, Page, with the assistance of family and friends.  Following the reception we were able to camp on the farm property.

Sadly, our after-the-wedding stay was cut short when Janet tested positive for COVID.  Fortunately, no one else seemed to catch it, including David who was living with me in our van for 5 days prior.

David and Janet returned home while the rest of the family enjoyed three days of sailing, skiing, swimming, and eating good food.
