The Tetons
From Sinks Canyon we took a leisurely drive across 26 through many mountains and a pass at over 9000 feet. We had views of the snowcapped Tetons all day. After we crested the pass, there was a great deal more snow on the west side. The aspen are just beginning to leaf out and the only wild flowers are dandelions.
We chose to spend the night at Gros Ventre campground in Grand Teton NP. There are quite a few empty sites here this early in the season. Ours, # 225, is in the no generator area so most people are tenters or truck camping. We took a nice walk before dinner to the river. If you walk north through the campground to the group sites there is a path to the river. Along the path we began to see signs of spring, — lupin in bud and a few just opening, low growing phlox, and larkspur. This is our first trip to Grand Teton since 2013 when we met with a group of Sportsmobile owners here for a get-together on one of the group sites.
As nice as it is here we will head west tomorrow for Oregon. My one disappointment is that the Museum of clean in Pocatello ID is closed on Monday, like most museums. I had hoped to stop there. Westward ho.
