Eclipse chasing – Plan B

Off to Wyoming for Plan B. Cloud cover predictions Friday for western WY were under 10%, great news! While driving north on Interstate 25 we considered camping in Wheatland, WY but it is on the edge of the totality band so we decided to gamble that Glendo State Park, right on the center-line, had openings — unlikely since we have been told that all campgrounds and hotels have been booked for many months. Well, we were pleasantly surprised that Glendo SP opened up several day-use areas for primitive camping. We got a great spot on a bluff overlooking the Glendo reservoir. As we write this late Saturday there are still spaces available.

We had a nice walk along the beach today, then a drive over the dam and part way around the lake. Lots of wildlife here: Mule deer, turkeys, white pelicans, heron, Canada geese, and cormorants.
