Palm Canyon Day 2

Day 2:  We walked the mile or so up the road to the canyon and hiked up most of the canyon to the California Palms.  These few palms, maybe a dozen or so, are the last remaining in this region which was, in a wetter time, covered with them.  For our return walk we walked along the base of the mountain and into the desert. Walking off-trail (bushwhacking) in the desert is not difficult but is slow as we climb over boulders, down and up the sides of washes, and avoid cactus. There is very little sign of humans except for occasional 4×4 tracks left over from before this area was declared a wilderness.
