Desert Diamond Casino

Many of the casinos allow dry camping in their parking lots.  It is often free.  At this casino, we found out later, we were supposed to first check in with the desk and then spend the night.  We did not, but no one seemed to care.

A couple we met on a hike in Texas told us that they had checked in with the casino, had received a “membership” card, ten dollars in free chips, and ten dollars off the dinner buffet — normally $10.99.  They laughed and told us that after a bit of gambling, the casino had paid them to spend the night.

It was a quiet evening in spite of the fact their was a train track nearby and we were under a runway for the Tucson airport.
