Emily and Eric
On November 8, Emily Elmore married Eric LaGesse in a lovely ceremony in a Historic building in Madison Wisconsin. Our entire extended family (except Brian) were able to attend. So much fun to get together and celebrate together.
Our weekend started on Thursday when Eric and Emily invited us to have drinks and dinner with Eric’s parents Lori and Chuck . We met for drinks at the Robin Room — the bar where E and E had their first date. After a pleasant visit, we had dinner at a nearby Laotian restaurant. Once again we marveled over the quality and variety of restaurants in Madison.
Friday night was the rehearsal followed by dinner at the Turnkey Supper Club. The buffet was excellent, especially the ratatouille, and the bar had lots of good Wisconsin beers.
Saturday was the main event. Everything went as Emily had meticulously planned, except three boxes of dessert plates were left behind in her garage. E and E had made lovely plates for dessert which their guests could take home as a remembrance of the day. Fortunately, neighbors Dan and Linda were still home, and had a key to Emily’s garage, so they saved the day.
The ceremony was one of the loveliest I have ever enjoyed. The vows, written by the bride and groom, were heartfelt and amusing. Seldom do we chuckle during that part of the service.
After Eric and Emily became Mr and Mrs LaGesse, we all climbed the stairs to the third floor for drinks and charcuterie. Dinner was served on the second floor level where we also could dance or play games. The night was capped off with a walk through a gentle snow to our cars.
On Sunday we enjoyed a brunch at Tricky Foods, a short walk from Emily and Eric’s house.
