Claire and Ollie’s Wedding

We spent the weekend in Lexington attending our friends Claire and Ollie’s wedding. Didn’t get to see much of Lexington as it rained for a good deal of Saturday.  Fortunately, the rain ceased with plenty of time for the staff at the Round Barn Stable of Memories on Red Mile Road to dry off the chairs.

By 3:20 when the procession began, we were all seated outside near the gazebo enjoying the breeze from the fans the bride and groom thoughtfully provided. It was a very hot day, but that only increased the joy we all felt watching these two declare their love.

The reception area in the Round barn was elegant and airy. We enjoyed a pleasant cocktail hour while the bridal party had pictures taken and then a tasty buffet. During the toasts we were reminded how far many guests had come for this event — from Spain, England, Ireland, Australia, and many parts of the US.

Following the toasts and cake cutting, we danced and, unique for most weddings, although perhaps not in the Lexington, watched harness racing. (Lexington is billed as the horse capital of the world.)

All in all it was a lovely wedding attended by a pleasant group of people.
