Black Rock Canyon CG
We are staying in Black Rock Canyon CG in Joshua Tree NP. It’s a large Campground, over 90 spaces, with all the amenities except on-site electric and water. The attraction for us was a hike among the Joshua Trees.
We took the Black Rock Canyon trail to the Panorama Loop trail for a 7-mile round trip with a little over 1000 feet gain. Gorgeous trail. Very easy and relaxing except for perhaps the last 200 feet of gain to the ridge where the wind was so stong we had to be careful not to be blown off the mountain. The views were incredible: snow covered mountains and Yucca Valley framed by the nearer mountains covered with pine, juniper, Cactus, and, of course, Joshua Trees. At the top of the ridge one has a 360-degree view.
