Crystal Hill Area – Day 2

Crystal Hill Area – Day 2

Another cool, gray, cloudy, and sometimes rainy day in the desert.

We spent the morning reading while the air warmed up. Then David sent up his quad copter for a look around.

Later between rain sprinkles we went for a walk among the cacti to the nearest (less than a mile away) of the Livingston Hills that we can see from our van. It’s a nearly level walk except when decending into and ascending out of washes. We crossed over a high pressure gas line (buried) and a high tension electric line. Even in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge there is no wilderness. Lots of deer, rabbit, and or sheep droppings. Lots of deer footprints in the washes. Lots of white quartz scattered across the desert floor. Some of the ocotillos are putting out leaves and some are beginning to flower.
