Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North

Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North

Last summer we made a stop at the Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP) – South Unit and were quite taken with the badlands terrain and the many animals – bison, wild horses, and prairie dogs.  This time we realized that if we cut north to the northern unit we could then pick up Route 2 (The HiLine) to head west – so nice to be off I-94.

This part of the park has some of the same topography as the South Unit with stunning views of the Little Missouri River.  Not nearly as much wildlife, but in our very private and secluded campsite we saw bison and wild turkeys as well as a host of smaller birds.

TRNP is one of the lesser known national parks but is certainly worth a visit.
